Bullet Glow by Josette Urso
"Bullet Glow" by Josette Urso
Return

What is this madness that beats itself
Against a page, and screams to tell
From through the brandy and the pills
And drives itself in a panic
Through the chest tightening
From the heart unable to stop
Clutching at a hurt

Like a language I have read
In broken words,
a wound into itself.

The moon splits and runs down
Different sides of the sky,
The Earth bleeds and cries.

And then what terrifying cold in the quiet reach
Of my mind? What form of grace is this
Diving plunge returning
To the settled waiting
Of a dry season,

Unbelieving? A Fall
Perhaps,
That comes to rest in emptiness
Not peace,

But in the tearless crying
Having cried itself to sleep.
